Rodeo

Each fall, during Harvest Showdown, Yorkton hosts the first indoor rodeo of the prairie circuit's new season.

The event is held in the Gallagher Centre arena and spans two evenings. During each go-round, between 75 and 100 cowboys and cowgirls from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and south of the border take part in the following events:

• Steer wrestling
• Calf roping
• Bull riding
• Barrel racing
• Saddle bronc riding
• Bareback riding

There are also amateur competitions for local would-be cowboys and girls in many of the events.

The rodeo is dual approved by the Canadian Cowboy Association and the Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Association.
